“Tha’...drug…s’posed ta’ knck ya’ ou’ in one minute…” Aventurine shares quietly. Her heart drops as she puts together what that means. It’s been at least ten minutes since she noticed something was wrong. She watches a drunken grin split his features. “Le’s jus’ say…m’made of stur’ier stuff than….ya’think…”
OR
Himeko intervenes after noticing someone drugged Aventurine, and she maybe sort of adopts him in the process...

“Ah…lost the bet…” Aventurine rasps, staring blearily up at the ceiling of the hotel room as it spins slowly. Or is that just him…?
There’s…his chest hurts. There’s something on it…his hand drifts up, brushing against plastic edges before a large, calloused hand–why would a professor have callouses?--grips his own and sets it back down.
“That’s not all you will lose if you do not stop talking, Mr. Aventurine of Strategems. And don’t touch that. We’re trying to minimize the pneumothorax here.”

Final Victor lightcone but having a different outcome. A first meeting gone sideways for our beloved dynamic duo, and Aventurine finding out that the "Doctor" in Dr. Ratio actually does contain medical knowledge and training. Isn't he lucky?

“F…Federico?” Ezell asks, craning his neck to glimpse his senior operator’s face. It’s hard to see anything around here with all the smoke.
OR: An operation goes sideways when an unknown gas weapon gets thrown into the mix. Executor reacts faster, but it falls to Enforcer to finish the mission (and make sure his superior is alright...)

This AU will explore the ripple effects this alignment shift has on both the twins and the rest of the characters in the franchise, friends and foes alike. A mishmash of the Maximum and Stampede continuities, with a bit of our own worldbuilding tossed in for flair.

Summary
Blade breathed in and then out, slightly ragged. His grip tightened… then loosened, to something desperate instead of violent, and Dan Heng could feel the way the other man trembled, ever so slightly. Or maybe it was the both of them, for different reasons.
Neither Blade nor Dan Heng could have ever expected to be in each other’s company as Fulwish’s plot rages on in the background, and certainly neither expected that company to be helpful. An inexplicable and unknown change turned the once-volatile combination into something capable of quieting the mara. In the process of deciphering this change, more discoveries are made along the way. The past cannot be removed or forgotten, but it can be laid to rest and smelted, to forge something anew.
