“Would you like to get ramen?” Akutagawa asked from where he had only walked a few feet away, voice almost unsure as he brought the back of his hand to his mouth to cough.
Atsushi thought he had actually died and was now living in an awkward purgatory.
“What?” Atsushi asked, a newfound energy thrumming through his chest at the proposition.
“Are you deaf?” Akutagawa asked, “I asked if you’d like to go get ramen.”
“Who’s going?” Atsushi asked, not bothering to hide his astonishment.
“Me,” Akutagawa coughed again, “Isn’t it normal for climbers to go out together for food after sessions?”
“Well yeah but…” Atsushi didn’t know how to approach the situation, instead rolling his eyes, “Yeah sure, I’ll go get ramen with you.”
Or: Atsushi is a climber, Akutagawa is a routesetter, they fall for each other despite the things that drive them apart.
