Summary
He’s at Dodger Stadium, flat on the ground, looking up at his assailant. Hard concrete and nacho chips dig into his back. Blood pools in his mouth. He wonders if he could roll himself under the seats - similar to how Buck rolled himself underneath a firetruck all those years ago to save him, except Eddie can only save himself now -
At least the kids are safe.
She promised.
“Where is she?!” the guy screams, pointing the gun at Eddie.
Fucking Taylor Kelly is going to be the death of him.
*
Or - Eddie takes Chris and Theo to a Dodgers game. He doesn’t know what’s worse. The fact that he’s seated in the same section as Buck’s ex-girlfriend and Buck’s current boyfriend, or the fact that they’re all going to have fight for their lives soon.

Summary
Buck's plan for the evening is simple: eat calzones with Eddie, pretend he's not in love with his best friend, and absolutely never think about one desperate night he hooked up with Tommy in Eddie's house, and the conversation they had the morning after in Eddie's kitchen while Eddie was in El Paso.
Then Eddie mentions a missed call. And a voicemail. And a text from Tommy asking if Eddie thinks he's "competition."
Before Buck can spiral, Eddie holds out his hand for Buck's phone, finds Tommy's still-blocked number, and calls him back himself. What follows is ten minutes of calm, surgical destruction: Eddie dismantling Tommy's ego, burning every bridge, and saying things like "You call that competition? You were never in the fucking race," and "I left him behind and he was still fucking mine."
Buck's pressed against the corner of the kitchen, half-hard and fully in shock, because they aren't even dating.
Yet.

Summary
Romance is a lot easier to write about than it is to put into practice, and Eddie is the world’s most ridiculous living example of that. He can practically hear the kind of jokes that Shannon would make about it, if he ever told her about the books but - he didn’t. And somehow, probably just because he didn’t start writing until after they weren’t living together anymore, she never found out.
There’s actually only a handful of people in the world who know that Eddie is a writer - and more specifically, that he’s E. Diaz, one of the bestselling romance authors on the market.
or - the one where everything in canon is the same, except eddie diaz is secretly a bestselling romance author, and nobody knows. Yet.

Summary
Eddie believes he is usually pretty good at reading Buck’s mind. It’s almost like he has a sixth sense for what his best friend is thinking. The two are just in tune with each other like that and have been since they first met. Eddie has always found this ability as a blessing in disguise. He knows Buck better than anyone else, inside and out. They have that thing when you meet somebody and just click.
Except right now, because Eddie has no fucking clue what Buck is talking about. Why his eyes are growing wide and his smile blinding. He doesn’t know what he is about to get himself into, but with Buck looking at him like that, it can’t be all that bad, right?
“Oh yeah,” Hen agrees.
“What are you talking about?” Eddie asks redundantly.
Buck’s eyes are peering down at him. He bites his lip, fighting off the growing smile, but it’s no use. “The Chappell Roan concert! You should come with.”
OR: Eddie, on the brink of his gay awakening and joy-seeking adventures, goes to the Chappell Roan concert with Buck and Hen.

Summary
“Wanna dance?” Eddie asks, leaning only slightly away to look at Buck. He’s smirking now, eyes traveling all over Buck’s face, taking in his expression and the color blooming on his cheeks.
There’s a look in Eddie’s eyes now, one that Buck hadn’t quite seen before this trip. Or had he? Did it just not mean to him then what he realizes, or thinks, it means now? Regardless, it confirms a thought that has been niggling at the back of his mind all night.
Flirting. Eddie was flirting with him.
or, Buck visits Eddie in Texas a few months after he leaves LA. They road trip to Austin with Adriana to stay with Sophia, who has planned a night out on the town that none of them will soon forget - especially Buck and Eddie.
