Summary
Spider-Man has three fundamental rules. Always get back up, never kill, and keep his identity a secret to protect the people he loves.
Through blood, sweat, and tears, he's managed to uphold these rules for years now — even though all it causes is more suffering.
Despite this, he's still a person. One who isn't invulnerable, one who can't always save everyone, and one who can't always hide who he is. He's not perfect, no matter how hard he tries to be.
So, when he accidentally kills Green Goblin, he's heartbroken. He doesn't know what to do with yet another life lost to his imperfection.
Luckily, a certain Merc with the Mouth — that he's come to know as the closest friend he's ever had, despite said friend knowing nothing about him other than his hero persona — is there to help him.
At least, until he's hired to kill Peter Parker — who's Spidey's cute photographer. Then, all bets are off.
