A monster is a monster if it is something that can not be understood, that stands out and alone in a sea of people. Morality has nothing to do with it, although people like to label most they consider ‘other’ and ‘beyond comprehension’ as something scary, something bad.
To realize you are a monster, you have to realize you are alone.
What is done with such a realization is for the monster to decide.

Summary

Neither approach is right or wrong, not on its own.
As Taylor teaches Yuji that survival can be a responsibility, Yuji teaches Taylor that humanity is not something a body can take away. She begins to trust people again, and he learns when mercy must be replaced by ruthlessness. Together, they begin changing the people around them.
And the world changes with it.

She remembers that she was asked whether it was all worth it at the end. Most importantly, Taylor Hebert remembers that she said "no", to that question.
