He had his whole life planned out ahead of him, and nothing was going to get in his way.

    Ilya Rozanov was a talented aerospace engineer who needed to get as far away from Russia as he could, and what was farther than the moon?
    He was on his path to either be the best or flame out spectacularly, when a chance encounter at an airport bar changes the trajectory of his life.

    This story is inspired loosely by Apogee by OpalApparition, which whispered my password and activated me like a sleeper agent. Despite all of the controversy, that was still the seed for me and I’d rather be honest about it.
    I wanted more of them as astronauts. What’s more? What if there’s a moon base?
    So, here it is. I hope someone else out there enjoys reading this little fever dream of mine.

    Even though Shane never approached Ilya Rozanov at their first Prospect Cup match, their lives and hockey careers were always going to be intertwined.
    Their rookie season under their belts, even as Shane wins Rookie of the Year, he can't helping thinking about, and running into, Ilya Rozanov.
