Before Robin can step forward and introduce herself though, the girl is looking up carefully at Robin, her hands fiddling in her lap. "Robin," she says, haltingly, and Steve is right, goddamn it, there is something strange about it-- stranger than the existence of the little girl herself, maybe. Still, Robin nods.

the grip is covered in tiny silver flowers and butterflies. the wings are worn down now, the ink rubbed thin where nancy's fingers used to rest.
the magazine well is empty now, the chamber too, so it won't take another life.
the word wheeler on the left side of the slide isn't silver anymore.
it's stained dark red.
