Summary
The very first photo is of a woman's reflection in a bathroom.
Without needing to be told, Ian knows this is Mickey's mom. She's got long black hair, almost down to her waist. She's pretty short, obvious even in this photo, young as well. She's very pale, especially with the flash, which is covering any potential facial features and reflecting smudges on the mirror, the background dark.
Practically no other details can be made out, safe for the outline of some fuzzy towels on a rack and the glinting of the bathroom sink, two toothbrushes in a plastic cup right next to the tap. She's wearing a striped tank top, the colours indescernible (maybe red? Maybe some yellow in there too? The age and quality of the photo don't allow for much), and very clearly pregnant. In the same writing as the cover, small, scratchy cursive reads: Little boy's almost here!
Mickey doesn't say anything, barely moves. His eyes are fixed on the photo, skittering around like he's trying to take in every detail.
"My mom," he says after a moment passes.
