Summary
Leon S. Kennedy couldn’t be happier about being sent on a low-risk mission to scout a small town. Based on reports, it's a ghost town that hasn’t just become an economic wasteland but an anomalous location with disappearances. All he has to do is get in, verify that these disappearances cannot be connected to any nefarious third-party foul play, and get out. No saving the city, or a girl, or the whole fucking nation; just a simple scouting mission.
Once there, he begins to understand the gravity of the mission; something is off about Silent Hill. The town’s a labyrinth, and when the only person he can find strikes an odd cord in him, Leon's not so sure he's relieved to be here anymore; he can't help but feel the familiar itch inside him: He's getting out before the town can erode him, and this man - James - is coming with him.
These two men, for better or for worse, destabilize each other; their resolve is more fragile than they might think. Their collision is enough to set them free or damn them where they stand.

Summary
Akaza really couldn't care less about whether or not it was a 'good idea' to take the Flame Hashria. And he certainly didn't care that when asked, Rengoku had foolishly said that no, he did not want to be a demon. Even more so, he didn't care to ask any further questions on the topic because, unlike the rest of the demon slayers that he'd encountered, Rengoku had a fighting spirit that called to him, so it would be pointless to ask more questions. After all, Akaza already knew what he must do and nothing, and no one would stop him.

When the hulking form hurls itself close enough for James to notice the eerily warm temperature radiating from its skin, there’s no time for either of them to react adequately. Captured in the soiled grasp of the beast, James kicks his legs out wildly, choking out in fear when he sees Leon’s hand lose possession of the only weapon they had in their arsenal—the gun skitters to a stop somewhere far, far away, swallowed by the starving darkness around them.
