Summary
Falling for Lucy was inevitable, fucking it up was even more inevitable, getting a second chance, though - Kate truly hadn’t expected that. She’s grateful every day for Lucy’s love, for her acceptance, for her quiet support. Her presence doesn’t replace Noah’s, exactly, but Kate has that grounding voice back, one that settles her, that tells her she’s okay exactly as she is. Who doesn’t mind that she can’t always be as expressive and smiley as Lucy so naturally is. Who minds a bit that Kate only drinks out of mason jars, but laughs with her about it, rather than at her. Who sits and watches the ocean uncomplainingly as Kate reads a thousand-page FBI manual in one sitting before going undercover for the first time, resting her feet in Kate’s lap and dozing off next to her.
In which Kate sometimes feels like she's a little to the left, and Lucy loves her through all of it.
