He barely blinked. His eyes wandered—one face, then another, then another—before drifting back to the one too full of questions, too exaggerated for a child to name. Beneath the silk, his small fingers began to fidget.
They were meant to walk the rest of the way and part ways at the usual spot, flying off on their swords toward their respective homes. But just before reaching that point, Jin Ling had turned into a cute little one, now sitting quietly. His eyes wandering in every direction, taking in the world with curiosity and wonder.
