Kotoko’s smile falters, just a little. She reaches towards Es’s head and tugs their hat down. It immediately conceals their eyes, and their arms shoot up to keep it from falling to the ground, them sputtering all the while.

Summary
After the events of the First Trial, Es, with no memory of who they are, wakes up in a world where Milgram doesn't exist.
The prisoners are no longer murderers but instead, just ordinary people, going on to live their lives just like anybody else.
So it seems.
As time goes on and Es starts to see past the world's deceptive facade, it's not long until the lies start crumbling down and the truth begins making its way through.
