Even after all was said and done, even after the speeches and the fires and the little bows they tied around the wrapped-up presents, there will always be someone to find what you left behind and tear the paper right off the box.
Jeremy Fitzgerald, after dying and finding their little slice of not-quite-Heaven, realizes that not every present is meant to be opened.

“I’ve got a plan,” Mikey’s eyes lit up slightly, but Jeremy shook his head. “No no no, don’t give me those eyes, you’re gonna hate my plan.”
“As long as it gets her off my ass, I’m fine with it.”
Jeremy took a deep breath, willing his heart to slow down. At least a little bit. At least at a normal pace to make him look like a normal person. When that didn’t work, he had to settle on hoping Mikey wouldn’t notice anything off. Once he decided he was reasonably calm, or at least calm enough not to explode, he held his hand out for Mike to take.
He just stared at it.
“What.”
“Pretend to be my boyfriend.”
“WHAT.”

Summary
After the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, something strange happens. Tony Stark wakes up in a random field. Steve Rogers comes to in a New York City alley. Within hours, both learn the same horrifying truth: they're dead, and the world has moved on without them.
Tony steals a car and, through J Jonah Jameson's radio show, learns that Spider-Man has been critically injured. He begins the six-hour drive toward the hospital. Steve, however, stumbles directly into the building where Spider-Man is being treated, and runs right into Frank Castle.
From there, everything only gets stranger.

Tony wakes up after 5 years from Endgame to a world he doesn't recognise. When he snapped, he was as dead for as long as the blip lasted. Being legally dead, he is forced onto the streets he has never set in before outside of Stark Tower. At least he knows someone familiar with the neighbourhoods: Peter Parker.
Or: Tony Stark traded 5 years from his life to fix the blip indirectly, and now he's looking for his traumatized kid that doesn't exist.
