Elliot has mentioned other Phoenix Program teams before, and a guy on one of them named Julian, who needs to stop hanging around his office, but it isn't until about two weeks in that Robert ducks into Elliot's office between calls, with a question that he immediately forgets when he realizes that Julian is:
"Toxic! What are you doing here?" his helmet flashes a completely sincere =D face, and Toxic laughs. He's leaning one hip on Elliot's desk, looking the same as ever except for maybe a little new ink, here and there, and an actual costume, some kind of slutty catsuit because he's that kind of guy.

And of course it's a mindfuck to be sad about anything, but at least everyone gets why he might be a little bummed to be separated from his Very Good Friend. Summary
Even before they shared a cell, Elliot and Toxic were aware of each other's comings and goings. Appeals, hearings, changes in legal staff, the times academics visit Elliot to ask him about biomechanical engineering... so of course Elliot knows that Toxic has gotten some kind of corporate contract offer for good behavior. He's proud of him, even if it means that they'll be separated. He's selfish, but not enough to try and keep Toxic in prison for his own benefit.

Of course there's no way to avoid another lockdown, and it is far too soon after the last, which had run for thirty-five soul-crushing days. But there's a certain peace to this one. No Rodriguez poking at everyone for his own amusement while they're trapped. And the hit was airtight. It's being investigated as an accident. They should be off lockdown soon, but that knowledge doesn't actually help to pass the time.
"Goddamn I must love you," Toxic groans, as an interminable afternoon ticks away, marked by the buzzing of a particularly persistent fly.
"And what brings this on, kid?" Elliot asks, sewing up a pair of holey socks.
"We were just in here for a goddamn month, and now we've been back in for nearly a week and I don't fuckin' hate you."

Summary
Going into a meeting with the shot-callers, Elliot isn't actually certain what he's planning. He's perfectly willing to kill for Toxic, but in the cold light of reason, Rodriguez did just fuck him up a bit, throw him in the hole, and scare the shit out of him, that last part not even really on purpose. It might not be fair.
The venue is a classic mob choice: the showers. Hard to overhear anything, and no way for Elliot to bring a weapon unless it's clenched between his ass cheeks or tucked under his tongue. He gives some thought to both options, but finally goes in unarmed. It's not like it would make the difference if it really came down to it, anyway.

It's perfectly normal to be in a weird, brooding kind of mood under lockdown, especially a long one, but Elliot is starting to get a little concerned about himself. Some fucked up part of him is feeling... possessive about this. The thought of another man leaving marks on Toxic, against his will, makes something inside Elliot scream and howl and try to climb the walls. If it were a physical thing, it would be leaving long, desperate, bloody trails, and would shriek so loud everyone in this entire wing would know.
And that's not, like, normal. Of course he's furious that Rodriguez has hurt someone he loves, and of course he's going to do something about the bastard, but... this fucked up need he has, to somehow claim Toxic, it can't be healthy, right? Christ, if he were a dog, he'd piss on the kid.

Galen's abilities place him into the category that TV Tropes calls 'Cursed With Awesome', more often than not. The things he hears have caused him a lot of pain in his life. Heavy secrets, things he never wanted to know or ever should have been his business, truly vile stuff from the bathrooms... but sometimes.
Sometimes the secrets that aren't Galen's business work out, though. Like right now, when he's just sitting down for his lunch break and hears someone crying. He'd leave it be, but they're completely alone, tucked up into what sounds like one of the supply closets. Sounds like it might be a man, and guys are always awkward about this shit, but Galen puts his sandwich back in his bag, and goes to check on whoever it is, anyway.

Like many things in life, prison riots have an age limit: violence without a real plan is a young man's game. Elliot is a brutal hand-to-hand combatant for his age, but he's also trying to leave this place with all his teeth and at least seventy-five percent functionality in each limb.
So when all hell breaks loose, he just drops to the floor of the dayroom and allows a guard to zip-tie his wrists behind his back, even if he does have to stay there so goddamn long he nearly pisses himself. He's miserably stiff when he can finally get up, but otherwise unhurt, which is more than a lot of the other guys can say for themselves.

Elliot is suffering. He can admit that to himself, at least. He is not going to fuck Robert. He is not. Robert has Julian, and he needs family, not a man old enough to be his father, working out his fucked up issues with Robert's father. Jesus, what a mess. No. He can't touch Robert that way. Even when he looks up with that sad, sweet little shocked face, every time Elliot keeps a promise.
He tells Jules as much, every time he brings it up, like the devil on Elliot's shoulder. "Boss," he's purring now, sprawled across an unused workbench as Elliot tries to work on his current prototype's design, "just let me tell you a few things."
"Jules, you are on extremely fucking thin ice," Elliot growls, not looking up from his drafting. He's an old-fashioned man, and designs things the way he did in his twenties, when digital art barely existed.
"But bosss," Jules whines, "he thinks you're hot and he really likes sucking on tits, this is key information!"

It really is a relief to have Toxic in the same cell, because he is very capable in that school of advanced jailhouse cookery that leaves Elliot full of appalled wonder that anyone in here doesn't have Type II diabetes, rotten teeth, and goddamned liver failure. Sure of some these... creations are palatable, in their way, but Elliot is entirely too old for this shit, and he tells Toxic so in no uncertain terms.

Summary
This may be a federal institution rather than a state one, but since California state prisons provide condoms, they're not too hard to get in here. So it's not a huge surprise that Toxic reveals a whole strip of them with a gleeful flourish, on their first evening together. It's a bit more of a surprise that they're all within their expiration date, but the thing that actually makes Elliot raise his eyebrows is the half-empty tube of genuine personal lubricant.
"I see you came prepared," he says. Given Toxic's surprise that in this relationship, he also gets blown, the lube is presumably for him, but Elliot needs to be sure.

Elliot should have known that things have been too quiet around here. Any prison is a pressure-cooker, and the California summer makes that distressingly literal. And of course that bastard Rodriguez is at the heart of it. As far as Elliot is concerned, there are two kinds of guards: the reasonable ones, and fucks like Rodriguez. The first category tends to be, if anything, a bit fond of Elliot, because he keeps to himself, respects the women, and when he does speak, has something intelligent to say. The second category hates him for all the same reasons.
So, of course it's Rodriguez who turns a simple sweep for contraband into a huge fucking production.

Elliot can't do anything about the inhibitor collar he's wearing, that would add a cool twenty years to his own sentence, and there isn't really anything else Toxic seems to need.

Pissed as Robert was when Chase insisted that Dad had to know what happened, he's glad now, because he can only imagine how pushy Dad would be if he didn't know. He's bad enough as it is, pressing Robert back into training and telling him to just forget about it. Robert really hopes the Brigade is pursuing all four of them and just doesn't want him to worry about it, because if his father knows what they did to him and is willing to just... let it go, Robert might lose his fucking mind.

Robert has never gone on anything like this many actual dates. His romantic history has a lot more hookups, hangouts, and nebulous things than real dates, and he really doesn't know what to do with himself in these situations. Not necessarily in a bad way, even, he just feels new. And feeling new when he's almost thirty-three years old and feels closer to fifty most of the time is a fascinating novelty.

Sometimes Elliot thinks back on his life and what might have been. Somehow, despite everything, heroics and real villainy have both eluded him. He had had some big ideas when he recovered from Robbie beating him half to death. Still does have a few, for the man himself. Betrayal will do that to a guy. But being a criminal mastermind just seemed so... dull, really. Elliot likes working on his own projects. Repairing and augmenting all comers, including those who pay in stolen cash, has ended up being much more his speed.
