Summary:

After the events of Cornucopia, Robert and Katon-Ur are an item, and Mandy is left in the awkward position of respectfully trying not to picture it.

Until Katon-Ur invites her in.

Chapter Text

Mandy was the one to dump Kat, so it is her bounden duty to stay the hell out of his affairs. And it's cute to see his and Robert's timid little thing starting up. It's just... there are rumors, because there are always rumors at SDN, and she shouldn't listen to them or think about them more than necessary to maintain order and make sure no one is being harrassed, but she was there when the team caught Burning Sickness, so she knows that it's absolutely true that Kat can induce lactation, so the idea that Robert is drinking from him is... extremely possible.

No one is harassing either of them beyond the usual Z-Team level, and Robert is handling it with his customary aplomb. And after one particularly gross remark from Visi had made Kat tell her with quiet and terrible dignity that she was mean and had made him sad, before going to cry in the janitor's closet, she had reeled it right the hell in. Things could absolutely be worse, so Mandy should be thinking about paperwork, and absolutely not visualizing this situation.

But she doesn't just find both of them attractive, she's attracted to both of them. She's torn between thinking she shouldn't have broken up with Kat, and wishing she had had the time, energy, and self-confidence to really press the point with Robert. So having the office gossip conjure up the imagine of Robert all cuddled up in Kat's big, strong arms, the contrast making him look dainty as he lets himself be soft and vulnerable enough to nurse, to actually sate the wary, hungry little thing that is such a part of him, is... Fuck.

Mandy shakes her head to snap out of it, and turns her attention back to her paperwork. She's staying late tonight, because she doesn't have a lot going on at home, really, and the office is kind of quiet and serene in the evening. A presence at her door makes her look up, and she blinks in surprise and then smiles to see Kat. And it's definitely Kat, no Phenomaman billboard smile. She always liked him best this way.

"Mandy!" he says, still exuberant, but softer, in deference to the hour. He floats over to her desk.

"How can I help you, Katon-Ur?" She may still think of him as Kat, but nicknames are intimate for Urgotians.

He looks troubled, settling into the chair across from her. "I... Mandy, I do not know how to have this conversation as a human would, and I apologize."

"Ooookay. Let's just try to have it, and you can explain as we go," she says, and he smiles.

Mandy is always so kind. Perhaps if Katon-Ur had had more faith in her kindness in their... previous? coupling, it would have gone better. But he has been 'working on himself' as the humans put it, and he and Robert both yearn for Mandy, and so he must try and have this difficult human conversation. He wishes Robert were here, but in a rare display of cowardice, he had categorically refused. He isn't even waiting at Katon-Ur's house, but in hiding at his own apartment! Poor Robert.

"On my homeworld, it is customary for a beautiful and ferocious woman to take more than one mate. It would be very forward for me to tell you that Robert and I both desire you and would like to belong to you, but it would not be strange." He sighs, seeing the look on her face. "Here, I know that it is strange."

"I mean, not unheard of," she says, turning the pretty pink and emitting the soft, sweet-smoke smell of an embarrassed human. "I... r-really?" She seems astonished, and it echoes in her scent, a little electric crackle.

"Yes," Katon-Ur says. "We are very serious."

"Okay..." Mandy says slowly, nodding. Katon-Ur can tell that she's thinking it over, and his hearts leap. "Was Robert that worried about how I would take it?"

Katon-Ur's hearts plummet again, and he does his best to keep them from falling too far as he moves his eyes in the way humans do to indicate exasperation. "Robert," he says, "is being ridiculous about his role as my nurseling. He seems to think that you will cease to have any sexual attraction for him if you even know for certain that it is true, and will also find him weak and deviant."

Mandy's face makes one of those incredibly complex human expressions that he's beginning to understand better, and then she smiles, reaching across the desk to take Katon-Ur's hand. "Well," she says, "by human standards it's a bit deviant, but in a harmless way." She makes a small, human noise of amusement. "I was actually just thinking about how cute he must be, if he does nurse from you."

"He does," Katon-Ur says. "Frequently, it seems to both comfort and sexually arouse him."

Mandy turns bright red, her phermones flashing with alarm, as her voice rises into a squawk: "Kat! Did he say you could tell me that kind of thing!?"

Katon-Ur cringes. "He expressed a great desire for you to know, but an inability to be the one to tell you!'

And he's still learning human emotions, but it's probably a good sign when Mandy laughs.

* * *

Of course Mandy texts Robert to make sure everyone is on the same page, but surprisingly, they are. He really is just being shy, and hiding out in his little apartment. He promises to join them, but also wants to offer a little time to reconnect without him. So Mandy goes from having nothing planned to being flown out to Kat's palace in the canyon, with the mountain lions on the terrace. It's so disappointing not to be wearing the amulet right now, but on the other hand, it's better for the cats if she doesn't have a physical safety net making it easier to give in to the temptation to pet them. They've always liked Kat better, anyway.

It's nice to see the house looking more lived-in, now. There are obviously Robert-based things, like all the little signs that Beef regularly spends nights here, but there are also more little knickknacks and pieces of Earth that are all Kat: what seems to be a Vietnamese-language Men At Work sign, additional potted cacti, a whole collection of those little animal figurines that come in Red Rose tea boxes... she watches all of them go by as Kat carries her to his bedroom.

It's so nice to see that Kat is finally doing better, and not just pretending! He's much more comfortable with his body, and with himself, so he's able to just pull the top of his costume off and lounge on the bed, waiting. And wow, his nipples are bluer than Mandy remembers. She wonders if they're softer, too. Blushing, she slips out of her shoes, and unbuttons her blouse, and Kat watches her with a soft contentment so unlike the faintly desperate look he used to have.

"Remember how strange you thought my breasts were, the first time you saw them?" Mandy asks, shrugging out of it and unhooking her bra.

"Females of my species lack nipples entirely, Mandy," he says, sounding wonderfully relaxed and amused. "My surprise was only natural."

Mandy giggles, slipping out of her skirt and draping it over the foot of the bed. Left in sheer black tights, she crawls onto the bed beside Kat, resting her head on his shoulder with a sigh. She has missed this; Kat's alien pulse, lemony scent, and inhuman warmth. Mandy sighs, just nuzzling him for a moment, before giving the tit closest to her a gentle squeeze. And yes, his nipples are bigger and softer now. Fuck.

"Please," Kat whispers, sliding those big, sweetly clumsy fingers into her hair and guiding her head down. "Drink."

Mandy can't help feeling shy about the little moan she lets out as she wraps her lips around him, but then she's too busy indulging her scientific curiosity. And wow, the rumors are true: he does taste like blue raspberry.
