Summary
Ellie always found it hard to accept the present. It used to be easy, this thing called change; something that was everlasting, something she was incapable of.
Abby’s features had visibly matured over time. Her voice was deeper, her eyes wiser. Lev was an adult. Everything about him radiated a newfound confidence. There would always be that residual caution that left his expression rigid, but from all the death and adversity, emerged a young man.
Ellie was the only one left who was stuck in time; frail and scared, like a stray dog.
(Ellie has a happy ending that she can't accept.)

Abby shoved the door open, the wind howling behind her, and tossed her shotgun onto the kitchen counter with a clatter. Snow clung stubbornly to her scarf and shoulders. She unwound the fabric from her neck, brushing herself off with numb fingers.
Routine.
Check the traps. Patrol the perimeter. Come back to an almost silent house.

Summary
Caitlyn watches porn at work. Her thesis advisor has approved a list of search terms:
“Sleepover” for videos of group experimentation.
“While boyfriend watches” for porn filmed by men.
“Strap” for the more hardcore stuff.
“Cunnilingus” for those who bother with proper names, and “pussy eating” for those who don’t.
When new videos pop up, Caitlyn scrubs through them on two-times speed. Massages end happily, cunnilingus gets cut short for penis-in-vagina penetration. Nothing she hasn’t seen before. She sighs and clicks the back arrow.
For the past year of her research, typing in “butch” has been like fishing in a puddle, but Caitlyn tries it anyway.
The page loads. She’s surprised by a video she hasn’t seen at the top of her screen: “PINK-HAIRED ANDRO BUTCH DYKE TAKES 9 INCHES, COMES HARD.”

Summary
Caitlyn was grasping at straws. She had to come up with a plan, and quickly. She filtered through all her limited options. One idea popped into her head. An extremely stupid one. One she knew she would regret but before she could stop herself it was already out of her mouth.
“I’m already engaged.”
“You’re engaged?”
“Yes.”
“To be married?”
“Yes.”
“To whom?”
Oh shit. Thoughts whirled through her brain. A flash of grey eyes clouded her vision.
“To Vi”
