A world tour meant a concert every night. It meant a new city with hundreds of fans. It meant scrambling to check-in to their hotel on time. The girls of HUNTR/X were being worked like dogs, and they would be lucky to get five hours of sleep a night. It would be horrible if one of them, especially the leader of all people, stayed up doing extra work instead of sleeping. It would be downright devious if she hadn’t slept in almost three days and was currently running on energy drinks and willpower.

Zoey's eyes kept sliding back to Rumi, to the way the muscles in her thighs strained as she tried to lift herself up off the vibrator, as if Mira would've left her enough room to do that.
"Zoey. Focus."
She was trying. It might have actually been the most difficult thing she'd asked Zoey to do, and that was tough competition.
"But she's-"
"Pathetic? I know. Ignore her."
Mean, but true. Rumi made a vague sound of protest in her throat, so maybe she wasn't completely gone. Not yet. Zoey could change that.
Work keeps Zoey away from her girlfriends for a week, so they prepare a welcome home gift for her.

Summary
Over Rumi's arm, crawling up her shoulder and to her neck, were dull, dark purple patterns. They were unmistakable. They couldn't be anything else.
Around them, the honmoon rippled; the patterns flashed in time with it, a wave of vibrant pink pulsing through them and closing in on the injury, only for the glow to be repelled and spread outwards instead.
The cold dread from before was back, pressing its frigid fingers to her spine. Her limbs were suddenly too heavy to move. Her brain buzzed with thousands of thoughts, too loud for any specific one to stand out.
It didn't make sense. It wasn't possible.
But then, neither was her shin-kal cutting Rumi.
Honmoon weapons only killed demons. It was the reason Zoey could take risks with throwing her shin-kals—even if she did hit someone, the worst it could do was bruise.
So why was Rumi bleeding?
