The small piece of cloth that had fallen underneath the settee hadn’t been there the previous day as far as Daeron knew. He recognized the fabric immediately, the familiar irregular stitching of the monogram that could only have been wrought by his own hand.
It was the smell that Daeron did not recognize, something floral that could be jasmine and was neither Valarr’s nor his.
Daeron and Valarr are married, with a child, and with a dire need for communication between them.

Dunk’s breath hitches in that barrel chest. Tentatively, Dunk’s fingers tug at the bottom of Gwayne’s shirt — at the ballooning edge that’s tucked into his leathers. A small victory.
“I know,” Dunk responds balefully. “I’ve had my cock down another man’s throat before. Just wasn’t expecting someone like you to proposition me. No offense.”

Summary
Flower fit well enough to call it, for that was what it was, but he knew all plants had names that those versed in the written word surely knew. He thought, perhaps, Egg would know. If he brought him the flower that is, but he found that he did not wish to ask his squire such a question. The boy might have laughed at the idea of Dunk inquiring, might have asked why, and how was Dunk to answer him but with a lie?
He surely could not say that this purple flower, so small and fragile in his palm, was the perfect shade of purple to the boys own brother’s eyes.Dunk finds a flower that reminds him of Daeron, and in trying to learn more about it, he collects more that are almost right but not perfect, until he is reunited with the prince once again.
