He doesn't expect that Tartaglia's soul, awakened from his millenia slumber, is now stuck with him. “Please don’t swear in front of the girls,” Zhongli said, somewhat despairingly, thinking more of his girls, rather than Guizhong’s older classes.
“The girls are balancing their entire body weight on their toes,” Guizhong replied, rolling her eyes at him with such flourish that it caused the entire studio to erupt in barely contained giggling. “They know damn well the value of a good, cathartic swear.”
Retired world-class ballet star Zhongli is living a comfortable, quiet life, focused mostly on looking after his students, watching the perpetual chaos machine that is his wife's polycule, and pretending very convincingly that he is not bone achingly lonely sometimes.
Enter Childe, the older brother turned parent of one of his favorite students, and the single most fascinating creature Zhongli has ever laid eyes upon.

Zhongli watched his face, and then frowned, and winced at the change in his expression as more blood escaped from under the cloth. Childe leaned forward, unable to help himself, "I'm serious, Zhongli - you need to be careful - you have had quite the injury. Don't move too quickly."
"Your eyes." Zhongli stated.
Childe glanced back to Zhongli's eyes, "What about them?"
"What happened to them?"
The Traveller and Xiao observed each other, and then looked into Childe's face, "They don't look any different to us." The Traveller informed Childe, quietly, over Zhongli, even if the ex-Archon did not appear to hear, so taken was he with Childe's gaze.
"Come closer." Zhongli whispered, to Childe. "Please. Let me see."
