Hephaestion was so flabbergasted at that question that he nearly dropped the cup of hot coffee in his hand.
“Excuse me?” He wasn’t sure what expression he had on his face at that moment, but he remembered staring at Phainon as if he had grown two heads. “Are you seriously asking me that right now?”
“So… is that a no…?” Phainon asked as he winced, his shoulders shrinking back a bit as he took in Hephaestion’s incredulous expression.
(In which Phainon is an idiot, but he manages to date, propose and marry Mydei all in one go. Go white boy, go!)

When Flins and the Traveler face off against the phantom Rerir at Starsand Shoal with the intention to stop him from regaining his true form, Rerir reveals a devastating repercussion from the way Flins has been keeping a fragment of Rerir's heart in his lantern: through the resonation of the Abyss, and the close proximity to Flins' true form, he has come to see what lies in Flins' heart.
And since Flins has taken his heart, he's now going to take Flins' in revenge.
