After pushing the Eclipse Canon away, Shadow tried to locate his limiter rings after they had fallen to earth. Only able to find two of them before G.U.N. confiscated the others, he ends up heavily worn down by G.U.N. and his own unstable chaos energy; to the point he can no longer fight back on his own. G.U.N. chases him as he runs to Green Hills to maybe get help from Sonic and his family, barely getting rescued in time.

A quick series of emotions flashed upon Shadow’s face as he recognised his longtime rival, from what looked like relief, to wide-eyed fear, to profound sorrow, before settling on cold fury.
