“Pen!” he shouted, eyes wide. “I — um, I got locked out of my flat.” He gestured uselessly at the closed door behind him.
“I heard you cursing out here pretty bad, so I thought I’d investigate,” she said at the same time.
They were silent for a few seconds, just staring at each other.
“You wanna come in?” Pen asked.
“Yeah, I’d really appreciate that,” Colin agreed.
She stepped away from her open door, gesturing inside.
Colin put a hand on the towel knot, swallowing down his embarrassment and walked through her door, nodding his head resolutely.

Colin’s eyes flew upward as he put a hand over his forehead to shield it from the strong sunlight. It was a little difficult to see, but the first person to exit the cave was clearly one of the females. She seemed small — her movements slightly tentative — in a cautious rather than cowardly way. She held her head high, despite her petite stature, swiveling her head to survey their family’s new surroundings.
Colin was so focused on her movements that he wasn’t the first to point out the most glaringly obvious thing about her appearance.
“By all the spirits — her head appears to be on fire!” Anthony shouted, gesturing as if the entire rest of the family wasn’t already looking in that direction.
Colin was squinting now, pursing his lips in concentration and tilting his head to the side. Indeed the small female had hair that was red as the setting sun — it was wild, curly, and the daylight glinting off of it made it shine almost golden in certain parts.
He was mesmerized.

She quirked an eyebrow, not sure exactly what was going on but open to humouring him. Moving slower this time, more deliberately, she brought her finger back to her lips, but this time she stuck her tongue out and licked the creamy substance from the pad of her fingertip, only bringing her tongue back into her mouth once it was fully clean.
She’d maintained eye contact with her boyfriend the whole time, and was equal parts turned on and fascinated by the fact that he was whimpering by the time her little show was over.
“Pen, I’m gonna need you not to judge what happens next and just trust me that it’ll be really, really good. Get your arse to the bedroom. Now.” As an afterthought, he added, “Please.”
“But the dishes,” she protested half-heartedly, clearly just poking the bear at this point.
“Fuck the dishes,” he said, already standing up and walking around to her chair. “I’ll set them on fucking fire if we’re not in the bedroom in the next five seconds.”
