    The thought lingered, tempting.

    But when Sasuke tried to imagine taking that final step, he found he couldn’t. Not because he was afraid, or because he thought he deserved to live. But because he made a promise, and for the first time in a very long time, Sasuke intended to keep it.

    He promised Naruto he’d come back, so he turned around and walked back towards the shore.

    Or, it doesn't matter how hard Naruto tries, or how much Sasuke wants him to be, Naruto is not the cure. Sasuke needs to learn how to heal by himself.

There’s no return address or name on the envelope itself, but Roy can guess who it’s from. Only one person would write him a letter.
