Poseidon has, at this point, broken just about every rule in the book. If his younger brother were just a little more observant, he would be in untold amounts of trouble. It's just that if any traits of Poseidon's can be said to be admirable, it's that he is a very devoted father. Yes, he has countless children by countless different women (and men, too). But every single one of those countless children is his, wholly and completely, forever. So when little Percy Jackson is born, Poseidon's first child in decades, the mighty king of the seas finds himself absolutely smitten with this tiny newborn demigod. He knows the rules, knows the risks. He just… he can't bring himself to leave this time.
So, he doesn't. He stays.

Students turning up petrified, and the hawkish eyes of a concerned professor on him - Dazai's sure in for an interesting year. And then of course there's that mission from Mori. Can't forget about that.
