He spares Mulan’s life. The army leaves her behind anyway.
Half-dead in the mountains and burning with fever, Mulan is found not by Chinese soldiers, but by Shan Yu and the remnants of the Hun army they failed to kill. Forced into survival among the enemy under a false name, Mulan slowly becomes something unrecognizable even to themself: soldier, exile, weapon, spouse, traitor, survivor.
Caught between the country that rejected her and the people they were taught to hate, Mulan must decide who they are when neither womanhood nor manhood fit cleanly anymore, and whether being seen is worth the price of never being able to go home again.

Summary
Fa Mulan saved China's Imperial Army and was left wounded in the snow to die for it.
The men that she trained with and saved the lives of threw her away for being something she could not control. They called it mercy, a debt repaid. As if leaving her half dead on a frozen mountain top was any better than cutting her head off...
Now bleeding, cold and angry Mulan thought this truly might be her legacy. Failed bride, failed soldier, failed daughter.

There she meets Shanyu, the enemy general of the Ice Lands, who offers her a deal she can’t refuse. Return home, get her horse back, no joining them, just to travel with them.
But war isn’t that simple, and there are truths she learns that may change the fate of their world and her own beliefs.
All while becoming the generals favored, she begins to question her homeland, her own feelings and if she even wants to return home.
