Summary
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
“On Friendship,” Kahlil Gibran (From “The Prophet)“Uhm, do you have a preferred side?” Eddie asks. His tongue is so dry in his mouth. He should have had more water at the bar.
Buck shrugs, glancing at the neat stack of pillows against the headboard. “This side is good.” He licks his lips. His broad frame somehow looks small, like he’s pulled himself inwards.“Do you -” Buck starts to say, then pauses, rubs his palms against his thighs. “Do you want to, like, build a pillow wall down the middle?”
Or: Buck and Eddie attend a Firefighter Convention in Indianapolis. And wouldn't you know it, there's only one bed. You know how this goes.

Summary
For the bingo square: Toys
"Come on," Bobby says quietly, using his grip around the back of Buck's neck to tug him into the house before letting go and closing the door behind him. Voice quiet but firm, Bobby asks "What do you need, kid?"
The way Buck's eyes well up at the simple question — like he'd expected Bobby to turn him away, to slam the door in his face and reject him — has Bobby wanting nothing more than to wrap Buck up in his arms and hold him until that wild, frightened look in his eyes starts to fade. But this isn't about Bobby. This is about Buck.
And sometimes that kind of gentle touch is too much for Buck to handle.
Bobby suspects this is one of those times.
"You. Please, Bobby. I can't — I don't —" Words seem to fail Buck, but every inch of his body is communicating exactly what he needs with a clarity that leaves no room for even a speck of doubt.
"You need to be taken down, sweetheart?" Bobby asks gently, then sucks in a sharp breath as Buck drops down to his knees so fast and so hard that a dull thud echoes through the entranceway.

Summary
Hen’s interest in their new captain was definitely piqued, and she could see that Chimney’s was too – who had he been to the beach and the market with? And why didn’t he want to share it with his crew?
As she ate the delicious meal and looked around at the chattering crew, the atmosphere the lightest it had been since it was announced that Gerrard was on his way out, Hen also found herself hoping that Nash would be sticking around if this was simply a precursor of things to come.
Although hopefully they’d manage to get some more information out of the stoic man at some point.
—
Or, over a decade before Eddie spends months dating the captain’s son without realising it, the 118 gets a new Captain.
Hen, Chim and the rest of the crew struggle with getting to properly know the stern and stoic Captain Nash – and then they get called to a scene where one Evan Buckley-Nash is stuck up a tree.

Summary
In the middle of watching Eddie awkwardly date his teacher girlfriend, Buck is abruptly cut out of their lives in an attempt to help Chris and Ana bond. Feeling more alone than ever, he grasps the welcoming hands that enfold him into their family. A mother he'd never had, a father he'd always wanted.
Like his favorite instrument, his life was like a piano. Sometimes out of tune but with love and care, it can sound beautiful.

Summary
Eddie nods in agreement. “I remember I cut my sister’s hair into these ugly ass bangs when I was around Christopher’s age. It was right before picture day, too, I was grounded for like a month.”
Buck looks at him, surprised. “Just grounded? I would have gotten the hard side of the belt for something like that. Or at least made to sleep outside.”
