Summary
It was snowing in Twelve too, just the barest dusting to soften everything. At the station, someone had hung a banner that said 'Welcome Home!' under the reasonable assumption that nobody would be coming to District 12 at New Year's if they weren't coming home.
They were right, of course, except for me.

Summary
At last Fingolfin freed himself, for though Fëanor was the stronger of the two, he was the better fighter. “Why would I go anywhere with you?”
“Would you or would you not take the thing that’s killed our grandson and grind it into a bloody pulp beneath your boot?”
“I think I like Tuor.”
“Þauron,” Fëanor clarified. “Decide now or I go alone.”

Fëanor and Fingolfin go on a field trip. It goes well!

Summary
Ahsoka meets a mysterious healer, and keeps meeting her.
--
She was tall, robed in white from head to toe. Gossamer-thin fabric even covered her eyes. There were no obvious horns or montrals beneath her hood. Her shoes clicked as she hurried gracefully forward to kneel opposite Ahsoka, heedless of the blood on her white clothes.
"Please," Ahsoka said, and found there were no other words.
The woman watched her for a moment, invisible eyes clearly directed at Ahsoka's face, and then she took a ragged breath and set her gloved hand atop Ahsoka's.

Summary
"Well," Jaime said, “I know you’d never so much as held hands with a women the day we wed. Which begs the question, doesn’t it, of where he came from.”
He flung his arm wide to point out the window, down to where their son, the recently-legitimized bastard who was now called Jon Stark, was practicing dutifully with his sword.

Summary
Ereinion Gil-galad discovers a miracle. Elros (not yet Tar-Minyatur) finds his way.
--
"You'll have no luck with that one," one of the other healers stopped a moment to advise them both. "He hasn't moved since the men brought him in; likely, his spirit is unmoored."
"Try anyhow?" Ereinion implored Elrond, softly, and he blessed his friend when Elrond did not question these orders, as if he thought it entirely worth his time and power to dote upon this old, near-dead thrall.

Summary
Melkor reaches out to Sauron instead of Ungoliant in concocting his evil plan. This would go well, if not for the minor detail that Fëanor is the most paranoid and stubborn person to ever live.

Summary
Tolkien gave us some fascinating female character (Éowyn, Galadriel, Arwen, Lúthien) but very little time with them, and many more of his female characters weren’t given backstories or heroic deeds or even names (see, the wives of Maglor, Caranthir, and Curufin, among others). The fandom (including me) hasn’t done as much to remedy this as we could. These are the fics where I’ve tried to give them their due, especially as POV characters and with some character study.
