Now, he had eight years until he paid off his debt and gained his freedom, and things seemed to be going well. Eight years was a long time, but it would be worth it when he belonged to himself again. No chains, binds, or masters to bend to. He counted the nights with a smile.
When two strangers enter the Manor, he's not surprised. What does surprise him is their kindness. He's not foolish enough to believe he has anything they want, nor that they'd look twice at someone like him, but they were kind and powerful. He's not sure of their motives, but as time goes on, he knows they're different from the Baron. Different from Him.
