    There is a burden to knowing everything that will ever come to be. There is no surprise, there is no thrill, there is no purpose. Derek has become comfortable with the sentiment. He is alive, and that is all there ever will be to it.

    Or, Derek and Avery get a second chance to know each other, and staying alive isn’t all there is.
