    Summary

Still reeling from his feelings after their ride in the step-litter, Xie Lian thought spending some time together in Puqi Village would help ease the tension between both of them. Things took a turn, however, after a seemingly harmless walk through the forest together.

Hua Cheng was acting strange; refusing to elaborate as Xie Lian's worries only grew.

“It was a remnant.” Hua Cheng eventually said.

“Of what?” Xie Lian’s mind raced. What could he do? He knew some odd antidotes from being poisoned over the centuries. They would probably find all they needed in Ghost City, wouldn’t they?

    “The flower yao.”

    His mind blanked.

    “What?”

“Those from the Land of Tender,” Hua Cheng said filled with resignation. "Gege, please. Don't come any closer."

    Summary

"The house is beautiful. It’ll need a little bit of work, but it has a lot of character.” Xie Lian accepted the keys when she offered them, turning the ring thoughtfully between his fingers. “I still don’t know why the previous owner abandoned it.”

The realtor’s smile faltered almost imperceptibly. She shifted her weight and glanced toward the house before hesitantly looking back at him. “The house has been on the market for years,” she said carefully. “I couldn’t tell you why the last owner left, but it appears the house has a high turnover rate.” Her fingers tightened slightly around the clipboard tucked against her side. “Once someone moves in, they don’t stay for very long.”

OR: On the verge of losing his apartment, Xie Lian jumps at the opportunity to purchase a beautiful old Victorian home for a fraction of what it’s worth. After a series of strange occurrences, Xie Lian begins researching the property's history. He quickly discovers that one name keeps appearing: Hua Cheng. An eighteen-year-old young man who died in the house nearly a century ago.

    Summary

“What about a war prize?,” someone suddenly says.
Lan Wangji’s head snaps up, searching for the voice.
Nie Huaisang looks wide-eyed as all the attention suddenly lands on him. “I mean, I don’t know? Could we offer him something? Or someone? No? I just thought it could help, da-ge.” He leans somewhat pitifully closer to his older brother, as if trying to hide behind him.
The hall erupts into voices, and Lan Wangji looks at his brother. His brother already looks back at him, slightly shaking his head.
“Xiongzhang.” Lan Wangji barely makes a sound. His brother knows the depths of his feelings. This would be the ideal scenario. Ties with GusuLan would protect Wei Wuxian and the yin tiger tally. No one would try anything. He should have come up with something like this on his own. It would be perfect. And he could take care of Wei Wuxian personally, keep him healthy.
Lan Xichen is shaking his head again.
“It would be a good alliance, would it not?,” Nie Huaisang says in this moment.

    Summary

“What were you looking to say with this?” Xie Lian asked, casually flicking through the documents.

    “I beg your pardon?”

“Legislation is language, after all. Specifically, the esoteric language of those in power to those they are supposed to protect. So would you please tell the court what you are saying to the common people with this.” He dropped the packet on the witness stand, “And how is that message reflected here? Please be specific, if you will.” Xie Lian pinned him in place with a burning stare, a predatory fake smile. Not plastic, but steel. Mirror-polished and reflecting back every limp nerve in the staffer’s slackened face.

“I’ll make it even easier for you. Simply explain this legislation to me in such terms that even a child would understand its benefit." He folded his arms, "I'll wait."

Xie Lian, a disbarred district attorney, now an overworked legal aide, gets himself into deeper trouble with each client he helps. After being offered reinstatement, then landing in the hospital, he finds himself paired with a strikingly-attractive and oddly-dedicated bodyguard.

    Summary

    "Your Highness?"

The lump perked at the familiar address from an unfamiliar voice, and the sheet slipped down to settle loosely atop narrow shoulders. Dark hair hung in a disheveled curtain around a small face, with tear tracks staining pink, chubby cheeks. Honey brown eyes, rimmed in red, regarded Hua Cheng warily.

Even in such a state, he was still unmistakably Xie Lian, and Hua Cheng was instantly and hopelessly endeared by the young prince.

"You're not mama." Xie Lian's lower lip wobbled unhappily.

    "No, I'm afraid not."
