I don’t think you want them to cannibalize his life like that. And with how you’re talking, I doubt Colt could survive that.”

He feels as though his mind has slowly evolved into a puzzle with one piece out of place. One very big piece out of place. And until he can find it, the rest of the picture will be skewed. His memories have been tampered with, he can feel it in his gut, though why or how he cannot say. But, after tonight, he has a sneaking suspicion that it all traces back to Spider-Man.
Or: two years after the snap that saved the universe, Tony Stark wakes up to a world in which no one remembers Peter Parker–including himself. But when puzzling memories of Spider-Man come to light, will Tony be able to break the spell and bring his kid home?

SPOILERS FOR BRAND NEW DAY!!!!!!
It started like this. He’d been in the city for the day when everything went black. As if his entire conscious existence had been snapped out like a light. And then he was back, gasping for air without knowing why he lost it in the first place. It was almost as if he had blinked; a temporary brain freeze had it not been for the screams outside and the emergency sirens wailing in the distance. That and his crappy cup of coffee had gone cold.
It continued with movie night; his comment about the kid's love for Star Wars slipping out almost without him noticing; and to be dreadfully honest, he may not have even caught it himself had it not been for Morgan’s innocent, albeit confused question of “who’s Pete” that followed.
It found him barreling into the too small ICU unit a few hours later after a hasty explanation to his wife and an adrenaline-fueled apology to his daughter; his brain looping between three distinct facts:
Critical condition.
Spider-Man.
Peter.
Oh god.
(Or Frank Castle really just wants to know why Tony Stark is in Spider-Man's hospital room looking like he's seen a ghost.)

Peter tries to cope following Doctor Strange’s spell, but it’s hard when he sees reminders of his old life everywhere. He gets a job at a coffee shop, it's not enough to live on, but it's enough to pay his bills. His stomach constantly burns with hunger, and his head is fuzzy more often than not, but it's fine. He's fine. Until a certain Tony Stark waltzes into the shop to request an inhumane amount of espresso like he belonged there. Like he didn’t die almost five years ago to save the Universe. His routine in a world that forgot his existence is thrown off course. He can’t avoid his ex-mentor forever, not when Tony’s visits become more frequent, and especially not when he looks at Peter like a puzzle needing to be solved. As if it couldn’t get worse for Peter, when an invisible threat hits New York, Spider-Man isn’t the only one to step in- what's left of the Avengers take it upon themselves to help. Fucking Parker luck.

"No, I think I do understand," Flash scoffed, unsurprised. "You've been a loser your whole entire life, but everyone here still adores you. Well, I'm done dealing with that, okay? Time for me to be a hero."
Peter's heart sank as Flash bumped into his shoulder and marched forward.
He stopped before rounding the corner when the faint sound of a gun being cocked echoed throughout the hall, freezing Flash right in his place. Peter turned on his heel in an instant, standing beside Flash protectively.
"But-but what is a hero, really?" Flash croaked with a nervous smile, side-eyeing the weapon suspended beside him as it softly nudged the side of his skull.
Peter slowly raised his hands in surrender, staring at Flash until he did the same, dropping the cans of pepper spray and the walkie talkies.
"We are so, so, so monumentally screwed."

Tony Stark was not Spider-man’s biggest fan.
Something was unnerving about someone who never showed you their real face, even after you saved the world together, or provided him with an amazing suit. He didn’t even know the guy's name for Pete’s sake, he could be anyone under the mask. Especially since he rejected Tony’s offer to join the Avengers and yet, still constantly showed up to help out. It was like he just cared about sweeping in and saving the day, completely avoiding any and all of the responsibility aspect or paperwork part of it.
And then there was the ridiculously mess at the statue of liberty that no one, not even Stranger, could remotely figure out what happened. Spider-man was just too secretive, too slimy for Tony. He was more than happy to just sort of drop contact with him when he retired and let people like Strange deal with it. Especially after the guy just stopped using all of the tech Tony had painstakingly developed for him, in favor of apparently making his items. A little ungrateful if you asked Tony.
He was more than happy to cut Spider-man out of his life for good.
