Ilya frowns again. His husband is acting very strangely.
“Sure, Mr. Hollander,” the nurse says, giving Ilya a wink. “Don’t worry. Your secret is safe with me.”

Shane gets some dental work done and forgets he and Ilya are already out. He tries to convince everyone they’re not actually married. He does a pretty terrible job.

Ilya’s eyebrows shot to the top of his hairline. “...What?”
“I’m afraid that Shane is no longer able to give a fuck.”
OR
After Shane's collision with Cliff Marlow, Shane damages the part of his brain where all of his fucks are stored. No longer able to give a fuck, he confesses his true feelings to Ilya, and says some things to his parents that he normally never would have dared.

Summary
He and Shane are in bed together, Ilya’s lips attached to Shane’s neck as they lazily grind against each other, when Shane says, “So you’ve slept with like eight hundred women.”
Immediately, Ilya stops. He releases Shane’s neck—even though it makes Shane whine unhappily—and pulls back so he can meet Shane’s eyes. “What?”
“You’ve slept with eight hundred women,” Shane says. He’s a bit pink in the cheeks, but that might just be the arousal. “I did the math."
