Summary
“I’m sorry it didn’t work out,” Eddie says, softer.
This time, Buck elbows him, grinning when Eddie looks back up at him. “You are not,” Buck says.
“What? No. I am sorry for you that it didn’t work out. I know you’re looking for it.” He doesn’t look at him. “I’m just hungry,” he says primly.
“Oh, well, we can’t have you getting hangry,” Buck says dryly. He rests a hand on Eddie’s lower back as they head for the checkout, a pressure Eddie feels as surely as his own heartbeat. Buck just does that sometimes, casually steering him where he needs to go. The thoughtless gesture of any alpha around an omega. A younger Eddie, still all teeth and seethe over the unfairness of life giving him an extra hole between his legs, would have bristled. Now he just lets him. He always misses it when Buck takes his hand away, his back cold these past six months. The warmth is back where it belongs, and it makes his whole spine ripple. He matches his pace so Buck doesn’t drop his hand, hurrying a little on his shorter legs.

“Fuck fuck fuck- what the fuck?” He whispers to himself, drawing his knees up, letting out a pained whimper as the action alone puts friction on his aching cock. He feels a pang of embarrassment at the noise, but he barely registers it over the pure relief that briefly washes over him at the movement. He doesn’t normally have a hair trigger, but he thinks if he presses a palm against his erection right now, he’ll come in his pants. And he’s about five seconds away from doing so.
Thankfully, or not, he doesn’t know anymore; the stall door bursts open, both distracting and startling him. He looks up, more concerned about explaining himself than upset that someone just opened his very much occupied stall before realising it’s just Eddie. He slumps in relief.
If he wanted anyone to find him, 5 seconds away from humping the floor, he supposes he’d choose Eddie.

“You slept with Tommy because you were missing me?” Eddie couldn’t hide a little hint of a smile.
Buck seemed confused by his reaction. “kinda…” He murmured.
“Did you want to get back with him?” He swallowed.
“Maybe for a second. But then we had a fight.”
“About what...?”
“About me living in your house.”
“What’s wrong with that?” Eddie frowned, confused.
“That’s what I said... But he...” Buck hesitated. “He felt in competition with you.”
“Competition with me?” Eddie almost laughed at it. The lion in his chest woke up proudly. So Tommy wasn’t that stupid after all.
“Yeah. Silly, isn’t it?” Buck joked, but the joke didn’t reach his eyes.
Eddie stared at him. It wasn’t silly at all. Tommy was right.
He saw Eddie. He understood Eddie. He feared Eddie’s presence, saw him as the competition before even Eddie could see himself in the running.OR
Eddie gets insanely jealous of Buck and becomes the ultimate cockblocker while desperately trying to gather the courage to confess his feelings. But when Eddie gets trapped in a building collapse, he’s suddenly faced with the possibility that he might never get the chance to tell Buck the truth.
