Summary
Shadowsight’s memories of the walk home after everything had been said and done were…fuzzy, at best.
Distantly, Shadowsight could hear his family conversing around him, and noticed them try to address him directly once or twice, but he didn’t have it in him to listen in. He knew it probably had something to do with him, probably tied back to what happened in the Dark Forest, what happened to Bristlefrost. How she hadn’t…
His heartbeat. His heart beat a little quicker than normal, but Shadowsight zoned in on the rhythmic thumps in his chest and let everything else around him fade into a quiet buzz.
He didn’t think he could stand thinking too hard about anything else.
Or: Shadowsight, and moving on when closure is nowhere to be found.

Rootspring spends a night with Shadowsight and finds a connection he didn't know he was missing. I love these two so much and had a lot of fun writing this one.
