Summary
Knuckles lay recovering on the floor of shame, watching while Sonic and the fox took turns with their strange ‘VR’ device. They looked ridiculous fighting against nothing and it helped belay the boredom of the floor.
On one of his non-turns, Knuckles caught Tails eyeing him and then the area around him. Knuckles didn’t look to know that he’d been gathering quite a collection of fur on the floor. He might need to gather up some of his hair before the Wachowskis started to suspect there was something wrong with him.
Which was sort of true, but they didn’t need to know that.

When you were hired by the infamous Red Son as his personal assistant, you expected to help him out with some administrative tasks, running errands here and there while he was busy doing whatever. But you hadn’t expected that you were going to form an unlikely bond with the demon, that you were going to learn surprising things about him, and that you were ultimately going to be the person he’d confide in upon encountering a significant problem.
And in spite of him being one of your most unconventional clients, you were going to fall for him along the way, little by little.
(This whole process also could’ve gone a lot smoother if only Red Son hadn’t tried to poorly disguise himself during your first interaction.)
(Which you easily saw through, but continuously failed to mention throughout the ones that followed.)

Summary
Driven by the strange vision he received of Mei and the Samadhi Fire, when the Lady Bone Demon attacks and captures his family, Red Son flees to the forest of Mystic Mountain. He doesn't have to wait long to learn why he was called there, as soon after, the Samadhi Fire's new host falls from the sky, and she is in desperate need of a teacher.
And maybe Red Son can learn something from her as well.
