“Why did you ping me, Drift?” Ratchet brushes his fingers against Drift’s as he takes the butt from him. Drift finds himself unable to look away. He resists the crazy urge to reach out and stroke along the edges of his chevron.
“What do you want me to say?” He can’t say that he knows that there's something he can't bear to touch for free of being wrong. Or ruining it. That it doesn't matter anyway. They've picked their sides, their loyalties, their brands. There's no going back.

He intended to tilt his head to the side, so he could get a better look at what looks like a busted audial, but now he almost feels like he can’t. Like this is all a fabrication, and the slightest touch would make it disappear.
It can’t be Drift. It just can’t be.
