Summary
A blue hand shot in the air, waving madly. “I’ll go on watch with Essek!” At the bemused looks of her companions, Jester stuck her tongue out. “What, I’ve done watches with all the rest of you.”
(When Essek starts traveling with the Nein to the ruins of Aeor, Jester volunteers to do a watch with him. Naturally, sleepover shenanagins ensue.)

Summary
Beau couldn’t believe what she was witnessing. It frankly fucking figured that Jester “Best Detective” Lavorre would stumble on the most irrefutable evidence to date that the wizards were—no, nope, she wasn’t going to think about that, no thanks—and manage to be totally fucking clueless about it.

Summary
“Exactly!” Caleb snapped and pointed to Essek. "Now, I am more than happy to tell them–I’m fine with it being tonight, even–but how do you feel,” Caleb paused there, the performative bastard, “about a little game before we do?”
With crossed arms and a tilt of his chin, he regarded his companion. “What,” he asked in a whisper of a challenge, “do you have in mind, Caleb Widogast?”
His mischievous smile turned smug, like he’d already won. “Perhaps the reason our friends haven't noticed our relationship yet, is because we have been too discreet. I propose we give them a chance to catch on.”
Interest more than piqued, Essek felt a smirk pulling at his own mouth. He raised his eyebrows, encouraging Caleb to continue.
“For the remainder of the evening, what if we were less… conservative with our affection. Putting everything right out in the open is a bit too easy, but maybe around the corner, beneath the table, just out of sight…”
Essek leaned his hip against the counter, shifting his weight enough to trace one of his slippered feet against Caleb’s ankle. “Like this?”
“Ja,” Caleb spared him another, heavier look, “just like that.”

Summary
“Caleb,” Essek asks in an undertone, as they walk away from one window, its festive display festooned in so many colorful sparkling lights that the very sight makes Essek’s eyes water, “if there is something you want to buy, then why not just buy it?”
“Too expensive,” Caleb demurs, the denial so prompt it cannot be anything but reflexive. “Besides, I don't need it.”
