It was the perfect plan; get in dressed as a waiter, swipe a security badge, take the private elevator to the top floor, crack the safe (a Worthington 1000, tricky but nothing he hadn’t done a million times before), grab the files, and get the fuck out, hopefully in the elevator but he had four other backup plans in case that wasn’t an option.
What Joe hadn’t planned on, was the goddamned heir to some import/export company monopolizing his time and attention.

It's only later that Grantaire learns who he is. Enjolras, child of the harvest, a god in his own right with dominion over vegetation and life itself. When he learns his name, Grantaire laughs until he feels sick.

“Hush,” Valjean tells Javert, and when he sounds impossibly fond, Enjolras knows they have been betrayed.
