    Summary

Inspired by Neil Gaiman's American Gods.

Enjolras is a god, brought to France by the Romans when it was still Gaul. As the centuries have passed, his power has faded as new deities rose.

--He forgot what it was to be recognized. That is, until the dark-curled man looked at him, blue eyes intent though his cheeks were flushed from the liquor he’d imbibed. His mouth was curved like a bow of Eros, drawn in a smirk.

“Behold,” he said, “Apollo has seen fit to grace us with his presence.”--

    Summary

It comes as no surprise to Grantaire when he sees the man, wrought in the colors of fire and wheat and sunshine, and falls for him instantly. Men always want what they cannot have, and why should gods be any different?

It's only later that Grantaire learns who he is. Enjolras, child of the harvest, a god in his own right with dominion over vegetation and life itself. When he learns his name, Grantaire laughs until he feels sick.

Could there be anyone further out of reach for the god of the dead?

    Summary

Enjolras, who has never seen these activities in the flesh, only read about in the abstract, is flushed to the roots of his hair. He bites the inside of his cheek too hard. He will not be fooled twice. It explodes from him; he is shouting out his shock: “Treachery! I might have known police spies go out in pairs--”

“It is a pity you will not let me cut off his tongue,” mutters Javert, sounding put-out. “That would be my official recommendation.”

“Hush,” Valjean tells Javert, and when he sounds impossibly fond, Enjolras knows they have been betrayed.

    Summary

“Let's get one thing straight, Peter. This isn't a buddy road trip comedy. It's a transaction. I helped you, you help me, let's just keep it at that.”

Maybe that was easy for someone who could apparently switch their feelings on and off at will? Maybe it would have been an easier request between strangers? Regardless, Peter heard himself agree.

    “Fine by me.”
