“Stevie, there isn’t anything to be sorry for, okay? You’re doing so well telling me all of this, I’m so proud of you, sweetheart. I’m going to ask you something, alright? You can answer or you can ignore it, I just want to open your options, is that okay for you?”
Steve nods, forgetting that his head is basically buried in Eddie's chest, replying with a soft “yes,” instead.
“Have you… have you ever considered that you might be transsexual?” Eddie asks tentatively, the strokes of his fingers in Steve’s hair slowing just a tad bit.
Steve gives a small sniffle. “I… don’t know what that means?”

Summary
Dennis Whitaker has always been good at holding it together, until he isn’t.

Summary
Something’s wrong with Dennis.
It starts small, just little things that Robby hardly registers at first. It’s a busy day, it’s been a busy week, so when it vaguely ticks that Dennis is a little quieter than usual during rounds, fumbling his notes, missing cues he normally catches, he doesn’t actually think twice about it.
Nor how when Robby asks him a question about a patient’s chart, and Dennis blinks like he’s been startled awake.
It’s only when Robby looks, really looks, that he notices that something is… off.Actually off.

Summary
Jack and Robby have been Dennis' caregivers for a few months now, having taken him in after learning of his designation and finding out he didn't have a consistent caregiver.
They were taking things at his pace, never pushing for anything in particular when he regressed. They bought him toys and let him reach for them on his own. They loved cuddles when he was small, never turning him down when he sought them out, but always letting him do the seeking. And they hadn't pushed for titles. As caregivers they obviously loved the idea of Dennis have a word for them other than their names, but this was all still fairly new and Dennis was still finding his bearings with them. So they didn't push, they could stay Jack and Robby (occasionally Jackie and 'Obby if Dennis was very small) until or unless Dennis was ready for more.
