Summary
"Magic exists to serve man, and never to rule over him. Foul and corrupt are they who have taken His gift, and turned it against His children. They shall be named Maleficar, accursed ones. They shall find no rest in this world, or Beyond." Anders knew the verse. Every mage did. But Anders was a runner. He ran from the Circle. He ran from the Templars. He ran from relationships. So what did he care? He was never going to rest anyway.

Summary
Alistair was given to the Chantry as a child - and knew everything the Chantry taught about mages. Their hubris brought darkspawn into the world when they sought to usurp Heaven, but instead, they destroyed it. They were cast out, twisted and cursed by their own corruption, and returned as monsters. They were something to be feared. They were something to be hated.
They weren't something to be loved, but Alistair loved him anyway.

Summary
Accursed Ones is an epic with a focus on mages and blood magic. It is a dark horror story, and contains abuse, gore, and death, among other things not listed in the tags to avoid spoilers.
The main story follows Anders specialized as a blood mage, from Dragon Age: Awakening onward. It spans several decades and contains several characters, whose stories are told in Apples and Apostates and other works within. This story ends with Anders alive and well.
