His promise is turned on its head when he and Penelope are found in an extremely compromising position by none other than her mother—caught in Portia Featherington’s schemes as a result of a wardrobe malfunction, the two have no other option but to marry in an effort to safeguard their good names.
Penelope is not the wife Anthony wished for. Anthony is not the Bridgerton she wanted to marry. And yet, once they get past the bitter taste of betrayal and injustice, they very well may become good friends. Anything else is, of course, out of the question.

Summary
Penelope could never let her best friend suffer, so in attempt to save Eloise from the ire of The Queen, Pen finally tells her the truth of her secret identity. Friendship with Eloise still intact, Penelope just might be able to survive the scandals that keep coming her way. That is until an unexpected turn of events sees her betrothed to a Bridgerton, just not the one she wanted.
This will be a Penelope and Anthony happily ever after. While Colin does suffer a bit, he is relatively happy at the end of it all as well. I see this as a bit of a fix it for season 2. There was no way that Penelope would make Eloise suffer like that as opposed to just telling her the truth. I couldn't let my bestie babies go through such torment.

After years of friendship, Colin finally realizes that he's in love with Penelope. Now all he has to do is work up the nerve to ask her to be his wife, but with the way things are going, his meddlesome matchmaking siblings might reveal his feelings before he gets the chance.
The first time Penelope arrives to join them for tea, Colin nearly drops his saucer (say nothing of his jaw) at the sight of her, for she's the very picture of a rose in full bloom, swathed in deep red silk, fire-kissed hair curling around her shoulders like candlelight.
He doesn't realize he's been shamelessly staring until Anthony calls him out on it, fixing him with a look that's equal parts vexed and amused, and asks, "Are you ill, brother? Only you seem a bit flushed and out of breath."
"Colin does seem rather thirsty," Benedict observes. "Perhaps he would like a tall refreshing glass of ginger lemonade."
Without waiting for a reply, Benedict grabs a glass off of one of the nearby trays, places it in Colin's hand, and purposely waits for him to take a large sip before adding, "Ginger is, after all, Colin's favorite flavor…in all things."
Colin chokes on his lemonade.
