After all, poor Lestat, vomiting his guts up and nodding off sitting down. Poor Lestat, who can’t seem to keep the blood in his system with how often he needs to use the restroom. Poor Lestat, who can’t stomach his usual victims and has to go looking for something to satisfy the urge. Poor Lestat, who has no idea what’s going on.
Poor Lestat. Poor sad, broken Lestat. How could they possibly stay angry at him, when he’s suffering and he has no idea why? That would just be cruel.
And this would make them angry, because they believe him to be a being with enough power to make himself suffer to earn their love. They think him pathetic enough.
He doesn’t even realise he’s crying until the blood drops land on the toe of his shoe.
He can keep it to himself for now. It’s just about him. It’s his business.
If things change or worsen, he’ll tell them.
He swears.

“I found myself in deep conversation with my companion,” begins Armand. “About this ill-advised concert tomorrow night…”
Lestat rolls his eyes. “You want to stop me. You can’t.”
“Oh, I will.” Armand finally makes eye contact with Lestat, in his unnerving way, that makes it feel like he’s looking directly into your soul.
“And how will you do that?” He opens his arms, palms-up. “Tie me down, shove a stick of dynamite down my throat? Cut my head off, set me on fire, like you did with the Old ones in the catacombs?”
“All good ideas, only it would be a shame to kill you,” says Armand. “I only need you out of commission long enough to miss the concert. A beheading would do it, I’m sure. You would survive, of course, long enough for re-assembly, but I cannot say the same for your child.”
Louis looks from Lestat to Armand and Daniel, utterly confused. For once, it’s Lestat wearing the half-blank, half-apocalyptic expression.
