Summary
“Jackie! Are you here for the wedding, too?"
The wedding? Whose wedding?
Jackie was here because her parents were retiring to Florida and they more or less forced her to help pack the house up.
"Nope, no wedding for me."
"Ah, that would make sense. It might've been—well—uncomfortable, given the history."
That answered that.
But… could that really be the case? Jackie couldn't understand, couldn't rationalize.
Surely Shauna wasn't marrying Jeff?
Or
Jackie Taylor returns to Wiskayok after five years, only to discover Shauna on the precipice of becoming Mrs. Sadecki.

Summary
The last thing Shauna registers before her vision melts at the edges, turning completely black, is the overplayed and corny Nickelback song that Jeff plays on repeat constantly as he smears paint along the walls of the hand-me-down starter home her future parents-in-law gifted them as their engagement gift, battering in her ears like a jackhammer.
That’s because, apparently, the most impressive Jackie Taylor look-alike Shauna has ever seen out in the wild has, scarily enough, decided to walk into Cubbyhole, New York’s legendary lesbian bar, on the exact night that a regrettably engaged Shauna Shipman has come prowling for someone to fill the hole in her heart. Someone to remind her of the girl she never stopped loving, before she walks down the aisle and pretends she’s happy with Jeff, the boy she only slept with in an attempt to feel closer to Jackie in the first place.
Or: Shauna, on the prowl for a Jackie Taylor look-alike to hook up with before officially walking down the aisle and marrying Jeff, runs into the elusive Jackie Taylor herself for the first time in six years since they were rescued... in a lesbian bar.

Summary
“Um,” Jackie starts and twists at the bottom of her shirt with her fingers. “My, uh, parents aren’t…” She swallows, throat bobbing. “I can’t go home,” she whispers. “And Shauna is mad at me and she needs space even- even if she won’t say it, I know and— and I don’t want her to feel obligated… I just— I can’t— I have nowhere to go.”
Nat blinks at her a few times before she sighs heavily. “Goddamnit, Taylor,” she mutters harshly before she looks at her, almost angrily. “Let’s go. I can’t leave you out here on your own and something happen to you. Shipman would kick my ass.”
Jackie smiles wobbly and reaches out, carefully, and curls her fingers into Nat’s sleeve. “Thank you,” she says softly, thankfully despite the small tear tracks on her face.
“Whatever,” Nat bites out, but doesn’t pull away from Jackie’s grip on her jacket.
