Summary
The ride on the Heli is rather tense, since emergency care had to be given to James the second he stepped foot on the chopper, and it was bloody. Natasha kept her gaze politely averted, but she could still see from the corner of her eye as Steve offered James his forearm to bite down on while an impatient nurse hovers, waiting to take out the metal, a toolkit by her side.
“’m not chewin’ through your G’d damned arm, Steve—”
“Shaddup, ‘s either this or your teeth turn to pieces of shrapnel and I’m not letting Morita harass me about not doing this proper—”

Summary
“Why is Bucky’s line disconnected?” Steve asks.
“Steve, who are you talking about?” Clint asks.
Steve glares at him. “Bucky. You know. The Winter Soldier. My boyfriend. Long hair, metal arm. Come on, guys, this isn’t funny.”
“No one is laughing,” Natasha replies. “There is no one called the ‘Winter Soldier,’ and if you have a boyfriend, you certainly haven’t introduced him to us.”
“JARVIS, can you tell me if Bucky is in the building?” he asks instead of responding to Nat.
There is a long pause and then JARVIS’ clear voice comes down from the ceiling. “I have no records of anyone who goes by the name ‘Bucky’ entering the building.”
Or: Steve wakes from a nightmare only to find that Bucky no longer exists.

Summary
Rumlow knocks his shoulder good-naturedly. “Hail HYDRA.”
“Thanks,” Steve says automatically, “you too.”
Hearing “Bucky’s still alive” in his own voice might have been a little unexpected, sure. But Steve’s definitely not prepared for the entirety of STRIKE to suddenly and inexplicably think he’s a secret Nazi. (He’s not prepared to learn there are secret Nazis either, for the record.)- Language:

Summary
A year in the life of Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers in 1940-1941.
The room is small, the apartment isn’t much bigger. They live out of suitcases and boxes, not staying in one place for more than six months at a time, but in a room with no windows, Steve has never felt more at home, squeezed onto a narrow twin bed with his very best friend. Steve’s hands are cold when they close over Bucky’s and his fingers find the spaces between his and as if it is the only thing Bucky’s body knows how to do, he curls his fingers, trapping Steve’s with his.

Summary
In this parallel universe, Steve Rogers isn't the heroic Captain America who risked his life for his country. He's merely a middle-management employee cloned from the original Captain America, sporting that iconic face but living a nine-to-five (or rather, three-in-the-morning) working-class life. His daily routine includes filling out task reports, attending boring performance reviews, and competing with colleagues for parking spaces... oh, and managing the "asset" assigned to him by the organization: the legendary Winter Soldier.
Yes, the timeline is a bit messy; in this timeline, S.H.I.E.L.D. was never infiltrated, and Hydra might have even disguised itself as a legitimate company.
Or, perhaps, Captain Hydra, but not in the way you might think.

Bookmarker's Notes
“If you love me, and I’m programmed to obey you, then any mutual affection will be questioned as control. That would be a conditioned reflex, not a free choice.”
“I don’t want to control you.”
“I know. But if I love you, how do I know I’m not just following what I think you want?”
