Summary
A year in the life of Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers in 1940-1941.
The room is small, the apartment isn’t much bigger. They live out of suitcases and boxes, not staying in one place for more than six months at a time, but in a room with no windows, Steve has never felt more at home, squeezed onto a narrow twin bed with his very best friend. Steve’s hands are cold when they close over Bucky’s and his fingers find the spaces between his and as if it is the only thing Bucky’s body knows how to do, he curls his fingers, trapping Steve’s with his.

It might take a year, we’ll have to cross rivers, weave through mountain passes and miles of forests. It might take longer if we go too north and the snow brings a winter chill that tests his body, but we’ll get there. We’ll get to the west, I’ll show him the Pacific Ocean and maybe for the first time in months, I’ll see him smile again.

Hockey and sex aren’t really all that different. Not in her personal philosophy, at least. Both physical; both a little violent, if you’re doing it right. Both require focus, skill—and instinct. You’ll never get anywhere in either field without good instinct. Without a willingness to lose yourself in it, to give yourself up to something deeper than you, bigger than you, wilder than you.
And—most importantly—Liliya Rozanova is really fucking good at both of them.
Jane Hollander is good at hockey. Everyone knows that. Rozanova would like to know if she’s good at the other thing, too.
