“…That gem.” Blue whispered, eyes wide.
In another world Steven had shown it in defiance as he confessed and everyone would have just passed a glance at it before wanting to know how he’d killed a Diamond. In another world Blue was distracted by her grief, her desperation for answers clouding her vision.
In this world Blue Diamond, who had sat in a room filled with bubbled Rose Quartz gems for thousands of years and stared at them until Yellow Diamond arrived to drag her away, noticed something she should have seen before. The gem was too light to be a Rose Quartz. The gem was too clear. It shined too brightly, the light catching it perfectly.
But she remembered a gem similar, a gem that haunted her memories. She saw it when she cried. She knew that gem.
“I know this gem.”

Summary
When Zuko is six years old, he drowns in a lake.
He comes back to life, but not quite the same as he was before.
Or: Zuko is Kuzon’s reincarnation. Remembering the world before the Hundred Year War, he realizes that something has went very wrong with the Fire Nation much earlier than in canon.
Some things remain the same. Some don't.

“So who is Zuko, really?” Toph asks. “I thought he was just a regular Firebender who didn't like you very much. I didn't know his sister was favored by the Fire Lord.”
“His sister is definitely favored by the Fire Lord,” Sokka says irritably. “She was his guard during the Eclipse. And she's incredibly loyal, just like Zuko is. That is, was.”
“No wonder, with that name,” Katara mutters. “What else would you expect from siblings named after the Fire Prince and Princess?”
In which everything stays the same, apart from the fact that the Gaang doesn’t realize their local firebender is actually Prince Zuko until coronation day.

Summary
In a world obsessed with killing and dying, Seiko is mostly concerned with chasing off her boredom. The Academy wasn’t exactly intellectually stimulating, but dying in the second shinobi war sounded like a long walk off a short pier. Everyone is always so stressed about avoiding attention, or min-maxing skills in situations like this.
Seiko is of the opinion that those people need to chill the hell out. Maybe play a little shogi. Death comes for them all anyways. Better to enjoy this all while it lasts.
(genius self insert stumbles into disrupting a timeline with the intentionality of an elephant trampling a very fancy tea shop.)
