Julien tightened his grip on the rapier by a fraction. “I would require you to teach me how to shield myself from the mind-affecting spells. I know the demon sisters have them, however deficient they are in using them, but I assume the Tachonis sorcerers are going to be a different matter altogether. And, since we are due to meet them soon enough, I would need to be adequately prepared.”~
Or: Julien makes a brilliant decision and asks Occtis for help. It goes really well, right until it doesn’t.

“And immediately proving my point,” Julien said, a smirk dancing in the corner of his mouth. “Besides, I am not complimenting you. Trust me, you will know when I do it. For now I am simply informing you of what I see.”
“And what do you see?”
As soon as these words were out, Occtis wanted to take them back. He didn’t need Julien’s opinion, and he most assuredly didn’t want it…

The words sounded so familiar they made Julien snap his mouth shut with a force of a command received countless times before. Only after that he realized neither the voice nor the tone did match and turned his head to the side to glare at the owner of this voice. Occtis met his gaze straight on, his eyes angry green and unblinking.
