Summary
Images flash in front of Jimmy's eyes– endless forests of green and brown, dappled sunlight shining through the boughs high above, squirrels and foxes dashing through the undergrowth, sending leaves and mulch flying up in their wake. He can almost hear the faint birdsong echoing around the lanky trunks, his own calls sung back in reply, can feel the sweet breeze trickle through his feathers– all of them, his primaries grown back to their natural length as if by magic.
He wants it. It aches in his throat, twists in his belly, squirms in the tips of his feathers. It weighs down his shoulders, the want, itching his legs with the urge to just run.
He could have that.
His fingers twitch atop his knees, knelt there on the floor next to Grian's nest. Trapped in their tiny room in the cellar of the manor they belong to. Belong to.

“Nooooo…But Tangoooo…” Jimmy moaned pitifully, more for show than anything. He was actually in some form of agreement about calling Grian, because his stomach felt awful and tight, and he had a thrumming feeling of anxiety that he only recognized in very sick animals. Or from that time he’d had a glitch deep in his code, that they’d needed to go to Hypixel to get fixed.
Jimmy had tried to rearrange the Ranch’s furniture twice already this week out of nerves, and it was only Tango tripping and almost breaking both their necks over the couch that put a stop to it.
“No butts!” Tango patted Jimmy’s as if for emphasis, and Jimmy was too weak and tired to kick him. “You’re getting looked at mister, and probably taking it easy for a few days. You’ve been pushing through, and that’s no way to get better.”

Tango is part of the band ZITS, unwinding with their routine gig at a local tavern. After going months without talking Tango hoped he’d be over Jimmy, the regular he used to see there, especially since he came back wearing a ring and with another man. A chance conversation proves Tango’s definitely not, and now he’s falling all over again. What’s Jimmy’s life become in the time they spent apart, and why doesn’t he seem happy? How does Tango cope with falling even more in love with someone who’s already taken, and how bad of an idea could it be to make a move?
