He hopes to use this new, immersive tech to live out the popstar fantasy of his dreams, but soon learns that doing this will lead to a nightmare that reveals the realities of being a blonde bombshell in a world that keeps shifting around his own intrusive thoughts, holding up a mirror up to the idolization of his own celebrity crush. It doesn't take long before he realizes that he cannot simply escape whatever he's gotten himself into. Now stuck in this different universe, Macaque has to navigate his way through all the strange differences and a Wukong who is far too fascinated with not being the only one of his kind.

I chew up then spit out LMK Macaque into the actual JTTW world. Not back in time before Wukong killed him but in the actual novel (sorta). Won’t be entirely accurate to JTTW but I wanted a fic where the LMK characters interact with their JTTW counterparts for a long time now.

The mercenary wasn’t someone to wear his heart on his sleeves, and even at the height of their partnership, Dream had rarely known what the other was thinking.
The crease of his brow was wrinkled slightly, but there was almost nothing readable. An impenetrable wall that Dream himself could not crack. That he couldn’t read. Dream had never been able to hold the same emotionless resolve, he’d needed a physical mask for that.
Maybe Punz had always been colder than him.
Maybe the mercenary had achieved what Dream had long since failed to. No attachments, no cares. Nothing.
