Summary
Hiccup Haddock is just trying to survive senior year, robotics club, debate team, a crush on Astrid he can't work up the nerve to act on, and a dad who's the city's police chief and increasingly hard to talk to. Then a lab accident changes everything, and Hiccup finds himself with abilities he never asked for and a growing double life he can't tell anyone about, not his mom, not his best friend, and definitely not the infuriatingly charming new guy, Jack, who keeps popping up everywhere Hiccup goes.
As Hiccup learns what it means to have power he didn't choose, he also starts to realize his heart's been quietly changing its mind about who he wants standing next to him when things get hard. Far away in the north, a bastard sneaked around the kitchens, stealing sweet buns for the sister he couldn't call his own in a castle that didn't want him and never would. Every winter, people died in the city under the claws of beasts the court wizard couldn't keep away, and every winter, it got worse. The king needed to do something, and perhaps the tribe of Barbarians his people had encountered by accident would help. They had dragons, and you know what they said. Dragons were magic.

Summary
Things have been good— besides some lingering regret over not killing Shroud and the careful consolidating of corporatizing Mecha Man with dispatch work, Robert’s been alright. Hell, he even bought a bed recently.
Things spiral pretty quickly when he’s a victim of some sort of bizarro mugging and gets turned into a cat. Surprisingly, it doesn’t even rank in the top ten worst experiences of his life.
